Acrylic
Often called Perspex, Acrylic serves a number of uses in the signage industry. Opal/Opaque Acrylic is used to front light-boxes due to its' great illumination characteristics. In this format, it provides an alternative from unlit visual signage, drawing greater attention – particularly where light levels are low or at night.
Clear acrylic is often used to provide ‘depth’ to signage and is increasingly common where clients are looking for a smarter finishing effect. This is achieved by printing on the rear of the acrylic, meaning that the eye looks through the clear front to the image behind.
Agencies and architects tend to favour this form of signage.
